*LUBBOCK, Texas – *Fresh off a tournament title at the Heather Farr/CU
Memorial earlier this month, the No. 39 Texas Tech women’s golf team
heads to Las Vegas for the 2009 Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown being held
Oct. 26-28.
“When you get that first tournament tile under your belt, it makes you
anxious to go after the second,” said Texas Tech head women’s golf coach

Texas Tech will be in search of the their second straight tournament
title starting on Monday when the tournament begins with a 7:30 a.m.
start at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev. The Lady Raiders
will be joined in the tournament field by No. 22 Arizona, No. 44
Arkansas, BYU, Colorado State, No. 14 Florida, No. 49 Idaho, No. 34 Kent
State, No. 19 Louisville, Minnesota, No. 47 Missouri, No. 36
Northwestern, No. 37 TCU, No. 32 UC-Davis, No. 41 UNLV and No. 33
Washington.

the individual title at the Heather Farr/CU Memorial, will play the
tournament as Tech’s No. 1. Gibson was seeded fifth on the squad at the
Heather Farr/CU Memorial but ended up shooting 3-under par to claim her
first career tournament championship.
The second round of the tournament will get underway on Tuesday at 7:30
a.m. (PT) and the tournament will conclude on Wednesday with an 8 a.m.
(PT) shotgun start. Pepperdine claimed the 2008 Las Vegas Collegiate
Showdown with Lisa McCloskey of Pepperdine earning medalist honors.
