(Lubbock) At an early morning meeting today, the Lubbock ISD Board of
Trustees named Rick E. Rodriguez as the assistant superintendent of human
resources. Rodriguez currently serves as the executive director of human
resources for the Waxahachie Independent School District. Prior to joining
Waxahachie ISD, he was the personnel coordinator for secondary education
personnel in Katy ISD, one of the fastest growing districts in the state.
Dr. Karen Garza, LISD Superintendent said, “We are excited to be able to
bring to LISD someone of Rick’s caliber and experience in leading human
resource efforts. We look forward to having him on our team.”
Rodriguez grew up in Roswell, New Mexico, and earned a bachelor’s degree in
Spanish from Eastern New Mexico University. He taught high school Spanish
and has a master’s degree and mid-management certification from Prairie View
A & M.
Rodriguez and his wife Tanna, a high school math teacher and math
coordinator, have twin daughters who are fifth-grade students. When named to
the position Rodriguez told trustees, “Thank you for this opportunity. As an
educational leader and as a father, I am glad for our family to be joining
the academic excellence of LISD.”
Trustees also hired Chad Elliot to be the assistant principal at Lubbock
High School. Currently, Elliott is the assistant principal at Cavazos Middle
School, which is a feeder school for Lubbock High and gives him familiarity
with many of the LHS families.
Prior to joining Lubbock ISD, Elliott was the principal of Anton High
School. He has also been a high school science teacher and coach. Elliott
received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Lubbock Christian
University, graduating summa cum laude. He has his principal’s certification
and has completed the coursework for the superintendent certification.
