With fall college semesters just beginning, a new group wants to emphasize Western civilization in courses at Texas colleges and universities. The Coalition for American Traditions and Ethics in Texas is announcing its formation in Austin today, saying it wants more focus on “Western civilization and American traditions.” Among the backers is Bill Hammond, the president of the Texas Association of Business. He’s joined by Elizabeth Young, a policy analyst with the conservative Texas Public Policy Foundation. The coalition supports Western civilization programs like those at Yale, Columbia and Princeton.
