International Baccalaureate program
Lubbock High School will host a pinning ceremony and reception for the 2009 graduates who participated in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program in the Lubbock High School library, 2004 19th St., at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, August 6.
The International Baccalaureate Program is an international curriculum for high performing juniors and seniors that includes two years of studies in the following subjects:
* English
* Science
* Math
* Foreign language
* History
* Art, theatre, music, or computer science
In addition to two years of rigorous study in those areas, students take a philosophy class called Theory of Knowledge, write an extended essay of 4,000 words on a topic of their choosing, and participate in a volunteer program called CAS (Creativity, Action and Service).
